Adsorptive filter media

Adsorbing means attaching (as opposed to absorbing = absorbing). Adsorptive filter masses are materials that remove harmful substances from the water and deposit or bind them. This includes, for example, chlorine from tap water, residues of medicines or traces of cleaning agents, pesticides, dyes, etc.

Tip:
Only use adsorptive filter media for a few weeks. Since the pollutants only stick, they can dissolve again after a while and be transported back into the water. At least a regular exchange is necessary. Normally, adsorptive filtration is only necessary during the start-up phase of the aquarium or after the use of medication.

EHEIM CARBON

Filter carbon for clear aquarium water - especially when setting up a new one

EHEIM KARBON is particularly suitable for clarifying the water during the start-up phase of the aquarium. Above all, chlorine from the tap water and other chemical substances that got into the aquarium when it was set up are reliably stored. 
EHEIM KARBON is used for a short time (approx. 4 weeks) in the layer structure after the mechanical filter mass (e.g. EHEIM MECH or MECHpro) and the biological one (e.g. EHEIM SUBSTRATpro) in the supplied mesh bag.

• Binds chlorine and other chemical substances
• Use, for example, after a new setup or medication treatment
• Use for a limited time (approx. 4 weeks)
• Only suitable for fresh water
