Common Name: Bloodfin Tetra
Scientific Name: Aphyocharax Anisitsi

Bloodfin Tetras are a great addition to most community-type aquariums. They originally come from Brazil. They like to school so are best kept in groups of 5 or more to promote natural behaviour. They are omnivorous so can eat a standard flake or granule most of the time but will enjoy a treat of daphnia or tubifex. They are egg-scatterers so will deposit eggs in plants or moss in clusters. They spawn in a group in slightly acidic water. The females of the are "plumper" as in their abdomen is where eggs are stored before deposition and even before mating. This is why they mostly appear rounder than the males.
